The Pitch
For our pitch, we later discussed our ideas for our music video project. We wanted to brainstorm concepts and decide on a direction. Due to the upcoming Thanksgiving break, we will have the time to put our minds together and start our project. Alternatively, we thought about texting each other our different ideas and brainstorming while we had the time. We wanted to create a concept that was quite straightforward, with a storyline that could be developed and understood quickly by the audience. Our first idea revolved around the song "Happy by Pharrell Williams." This option would bring high energy within the video by showing someone with joyfulness or fulfillment, such as getting ready for a date or having a joyful moment. The upbeat nature of the song would let us create a fun and lively music video with positive vibes and an amazing experience. On the other hand, our second pitch idea was the song "Die with a Smile by Bruno Mars." With this song, it would be simple enough to execute and capture the right tone and message for this music video. But with this song, the video would have a more dramatic and sadder scene rather than an upbeat and unrealistic scene. The consideration of both these topics was quite hard to choose between. We wanted our music video to have great meaning and cleverness throughout its creation. With a sad song, the storyline would have to revolve around the background or story behind a topic/subject with issues or difficult experiences. Each idea had its own mood and style, so we debated which would fit the commercial the best. We like the thought of creating something that tells a personal story. This personal story could resonate with the audience and bring them to understand the struggle that a lot of people go through daily. We also saw a lot of potential in making something lighthearted to lift up the spirits and happiness of the audience. We had to look at all the positives and negatives of both pitches to see which would help the audience to understand and appreciate the storyline more. But either way, we knew we needed to settle on a direction soon.
