Film Review Deep dive

At first, towards the beginning, the setting and ideas of our film we had were very solid at the time, but as we got deeper into the process, a lot of things had to change. Writing the script was straightforward, but once we started filming, we ran into a lot of unexpected obstacles. Trying to find the right locations, dealing with many lighting issues, and making sure everything looked good on camera was way more difficult than we had intended. There were plenty of times when we would try to shoot a scene, watch it back, and realize that it did not work. We had to redo many scenes and shots that day it it became way too much of a struggle. The sounds, background noises, and cleaning audio were the biggest issues we had during filming on a windy day. With all the problems happening in just a couple of minutes, we really wanted to give up and start filming on another easier day. Although we were all frustrated, seeing some of the ideas actually come to life and start connecting together like pieces in a puzzle, was really rewarding. The process of editing took way longer than it usually would. I had to constantly make changes, perfect the diegetic noises, pace the video correctly, transitions, etc. It was all such problematic to me, yet I still enjoyed the process of editing. Although I went through so many hardships putting the final pieces together, the final version ended up looking completely different from what we all had originally planned. Although it wasn't what we had imagined, I believe it turned out better than we would have originally thought. It was amazing to see how much effort went into just a few minutes of film. Even though it was frustrating at times, finishing the project was really satisfying. It gave me a whole new appreciation for how much work goes into filmmaking. There were definitely moments where it felt overwhelming, but seeing the final result made it all worth it. I also learned a lot about teamwork, problem-solving, and adapting when things don’t go as planned. Looking back, the challenges actually made the experience better because we had to be creative and think on our feet. There were also a lot of funny behind-the-scenes moments that made the whole process more fun. Overall, this project taught me a lot about filmmaking and patience, and I’m really proud of how everything turned out.
