 1. How does your product use or challenge conventions AND how does it represent social groups or issues?

a. During this project's research, we tried to follow a similar convention norm within the filmmaking industry. Commercials are meant to showcase and persuade audiences to buy certain products to help the company and benefit the buyer. To do this certain conventual norms that are integrated may include stereotypes, stigma messaging, language styles, and/or props to add emphasis. In the process of production, we tried to stay to the known convention norms within the commercial styling to keep it simple and neat. These norms help the commercial to remain clean and neat while also keeping the attention of the audience with understanding rather than confusion.

b. This project is geared towards the center and focus of the Nike audience and customers who may or may not be interested in such a product. This commercial tries to reach the audience of those who are interested in buying specific products such as designer shoes, running shoes, or average-day shoes. This reach to this audience is widespread and can only affect those who put their mind to it. We try to reach the audience of those who need such shoes whether they are cheap or expensive. We just want to persuade them to buy good products that are reliable and efficient for them in different locations.

2. How does your product engage with audiences AND how would it be distributed as a real media text?

a. The main purpose of the commercial is to grab the attention of the viewer. The commercial grasps their attention through the different adventures and areas where these different shoes can be used. The commercial is meant to show how comfortable and easy it is for these shoes to be worn and how conventional they are as well. The audience can connect with the commercial as I can reflect on their aspirations for needing shoes and can make an emotional attachment to have the audience more engaged. The visual and auditory elements also help to engage the audience's attention within the commercial. The different colors and forms of every shoe can be intriguing to the audience's eye.

b.  When it comes to the distribution of this commercial I would want to utilize multiple platforms to maximize its distribution. The advertising of this commercial will be showcased throughout social media apps such as Snapchat, Instagram, YouTube, etc. Digital platforms have become more essential for modern advertising. These online platforms will make it easier to spread the word and can ensure that the commercial will reach a highly targeted audience. Partnerships and the help of influencers also may help the distribution of this commercial and may ensure a deep connection with the viewers.

3. How did your production skills develop throughout this project?

Since the beginning of this project, I have accepted and learned the rules and dynamics of the filmmaking industry. Things such as editing, precise timing, production areas, the different jobs, and the different filmmaking techniques have all been huge learning experiences for me during this time of production. The things I have learned have affected me positively within my media class and in the outside world. I can identify different angles and positions within the filmmaking process easily. It is great to be educated on different filmmaking techniques and to understand them easily and dynamically. Though it is fun to create and produce, it is quite time-consuming and takes lots of hard work just to put everything together. With limited supplies and a limited team, it is very hard to produce a commercial like this, especially with the lack of equipment. But overall it is quite exciting and joyful to create such influential pieces of media.

4. How did you integrate technologies, hardware, and online- in this project?

Technologies such as Cap Cut, adobe, and I-movie were all used in the process of editing the commercial together. These apps were the most available and affordable editing apps that I could use within the editing process. It took me quite a while to understand and maneuver through the different apps to adapt to each different editing style and formatting that they each had. Cap cut was the main app that I used for the majority of the editing. The other apps were mainly used as backup apps for harder editing, such as copying and pasting, rotations editing, and color graduation. For example, I-movie was used to add the cuts between each part of the different videos added together, and Adobe was used to edit the videos, such as the lighting, color gradation, and timing/sound. As I got used to each app individually it became way easier to create and form the commercial together for the final product.
