Planning blog

To start off the planning of our music video, we will start by selecting an ideal location to ensure it matches the somber and emotional tone that we aim to capture. With the pre-production phase, we will try to organize our little crew and ensure that all necessary equipment, such as our cameras, lighting pieces, and sound gear, is ready and set to go for filming. We followed these pre-production steps by also conducting a thorough rehearsal with the main character to ensure that she has a good understanding and comprehension of the depth of the different shots. It's super important that we can connect and fully visualize the different types of emotions that we are trying to show. At the same time, we'll be finalizing our shot list based on the story that we planned. This should help to guide us during filming with different notes on frames, angles, and certain movements. We'll begin filming with an establishing shot to set the mood and location. Then, we'll try to use as many wide shots to show the character's loneliness and isolation at the beginning of the song. The lighting plays a huge role within the scene and gives a very optimistic and wonderful feeling. We want the lighting to create many shadows and ominous figures in the background of the video to give an idea of what the character is seeing and why it is affecting her. These shadows will show as a new character or an ominous character that is following and watching the main character. We will also add some medium close-ups of facial expressions to show the confusion and fear within her features. After these scenes, we plan to film the performance parts of the video where the star will express many feelings in a secluded area during a certain time of night. Non-diegetic sounds will also be added to the production, as I believe they will create character and development of the situation. The sound integration of speech, footsteps, and sounds from the wind between scenes will help to build tension and give a very scary and horror-ish feel. The horror-ish feeling or the scaredness of the character will show the true feeling of how many people have to go through emotions like this constantly, and give a real sense of how the human body expresses itself in certain environments. We will also make sure that the pacing feels natural and matches the rhythm of the song so it isn't off beat or too slow to catch up. We might also use slow motion or fast-paced dramatic turns to enhance the intensity of certain clips in which the character is. After filming, we will review everything and re-shoot if anything feels off or incorrect. Everything will then be brought back together in the editing stage to add more to the scary feelings of the music video. We're really hoping the final product connects with people and tells a story they can relate to.
