First Film Production

Image
The filming of the music video will start on November 26th during Thanksgiving break. I had chosen this specific day to give myself a good head start on the concept of how and where the filming will take place. Most of the filming will be done by me, while my other teammates will be the actors in the music video. The filming process will take up to four days to a little over a week to acquire the right media to match the theme within the video. The main theme focuses on a girl who is being stalked by her ex and how she tries to leave it alone, but it just gets worse. I wanted the theme to be very meaningful and easy to understand for the audience, as it goes on, it may be relatable for some viewers or very interesting to watch. For the beginning process of filming, I came up with two designated places to start the filming process. Firstly, I chose the park as it is a very localized area and would fit perfectly with the motive of the music video. The park seemed to be a great choice to ...

Planning blog

To start off the planning of our music video, we will start by selecting an ideal location to ensure it matches the somber and emotional tone that we aim to capture. With the pre-production phase, we will try to organize our little crew and ensure that all necessary equipment, such as our cameras, lighting pieces, and sound gear, is ready and set to go for filming. We followed these pre-production steps by also conducting a thorough rehearsal with the main character to ensure that she has a good understanding and comprehension of the depth of the different shots. It's super important that we can connect and fully visualize the different types of emotions that we are trying to show. At the same time, we'll be finalizing our shot list based on the story that we planned. This should help to guide us during filming with different notes on frames, angles, and certain movements. We'll begin filming with an establishing shot to set the mood and location. Then, we'll try to use...

For this music video, we intend to focus on the traditional approach rather than the abstract structure. We want to emphasize the process of pre-production, conceptualization, and quality to ensure clarity and impact from this music video. We envision creating a narrative and performing it with a somber and sad tone that will deeply convey the story and meaning behind the message. The song "Die with a Smile by Bruno Mars perfectly aligns with our envisioned concept. It provides many layers of emotions and interpretative depth that can appeal to our intended genre. It is one of our top recommendations on our list of songs. Alternatively, "Dark Red by Steve Lacy" is also a strong consideration for our topic. Its slow-building tempo and clash of intensity really bring a fierce and scary feeling to show emotions of agitation, intimidation, or even fearful behaviors. These two songs are our best fit for this genre and will guarantee a great liking choice from our audience. Ad...

The Pitch

Image
For our pitch, we later discussed our ideas for our music video project. We wanted to brainstorm concepts and decide on a direction. Due to the upcoming Thanksgiving break, we will have the time to put our minds together and start our project. Alternatively, we thought about texting each other our different ideas and brainstorming while we had the time. We wanted to create a concept that was quite straightforward, with a storyline that could be developed and understood quickly by the audience. Our first idea revolved around  the song "Happy by Pharrell Williams." This option would bring high energy within the video by showing someone with joyfulness or fulfillment, such as getting ready for a date or having a joyful moment. The upbeat nature of the song would let us create a fun and lively music video with positive vibes and an amazing experience. On the other hand, our second pitch idea was the song "Die with a Smile by Bruno Mars." With this song, it would be simp...
